Trip to Austin - Aug 2010

We spent the last few days with Tonya and family in Austin. They live in a beautiful master-planned area which is located between Lake Austin and Lake Travis (both reservoirs on the Colorado River) along the Balcones Canyonland Preserve. Homes, condos, pools, shopping, parks, schools, etc., etc., etc.

Jake was at the front door waiting to greet us!

Regan was helping her mom make Green Chili Stew--it was spicy-hot and very tasty! Regan is taller than her mom now!

School starts for the kids on Monday, so haircuts were in order. Jake was not a good client!
He just didn't have time to get a hair cut...

Regan needed her bangs trimmed up. Kaley was in drivers education school. She finished up on Friday and now just has to log some driving time before she can get her license.

Macy spent her time entertaining Granddad as well as Bozeman.

There are so many great places to eat in Austin. Last time we ate at Oasis on Lake Travis which is close to where the kids live. It was a beautiful place and their sunsets are famous! This picture is from last year. Don't you love the colorful umbrellas? There are hundreds of them!

As is this picture with all the grandkids!

This time we ate at County Line Bar-B-Q. It is located in an old lake lodge on the shores of Bull Creek just off Lake Austin. Best Bar-B-Q in Austin!

There were also a couple of canoes floating down the river.

Regan was feeding the swan...

Macy and Jake were busy feeding the turtles. They knew Granddad and I would love seeing the turtles since we have terrapins in our yard. In fact, we found one of our terrapins at our front door when we got home that had escaped but came back home...guess he was missing his daily feeding of tomatoes!

There's a beautiful redwood deck and they even had live entertainment.

It was nice and cool out on the deck and we didn't even notice the 100+ degree temperature!

Bozeman and Lila are brother and sister and always seem to bond when they are together.

...and of course, Gracie is always Miss Personality Plus!

This is the gated entry about a block from Tonya's home that provides security for some of the up to $12 million homes in the area. Rumor is that Sandra Bullick lives through these gates. We hoped for a glimpse but saw nothing! We'll keep checking out this rumor...!

See you all soon! Good luck with school and the new job! Love, Dad and Vic

LAST HURRAH FOR THE 4TH OF JULY 2010!!!-Part 2

It was another great 4th of July!!

LAST HURRAH FOR THE 4TH OF JULY 2010!!!-Parade

The parade of the golf carts is also a highlight of the holiday at the lake. Leah got the decorations, Kristi and Jennifer decorated the cart and the cart won 1st Place as Most Creative....YEAH! The prize was a goody bag from the resort. There were probably 15-20 carts in the parade all dressed in patriotic colors.
Chris and Diesel didn't ride but did pose for the picture!

Freckles, Leah and Gus rode in the baggage area and smiled pretty! Notice the umbrella...it rained all day at the lake. We just stayed inside until the parade. The rain let up a little then but we still needed the umbrella to eat at the cookout. Cousin Gary also joined us for the day and stayed to watch fireworks out on the boat. We watched them at Lee's and also Blue Bluff (who's were much, much better than Lee's). There was also a band playing out on DaDeck. The resort furnished the hot dogs and hamburgers and everyone brought a dish to go with them. Lots of yummy food!

Jennifer was the designated driver...

Tres and Landon watching the parade in the rain.

Chris dressed in his holiday best....

Happy 4th from Leah and Gus!

LAST HURRAH FOR THE 4TH OF JULY 2010!!!-Part 1

Kira wants to be in on all the action....lighting fireworks in the street.

Several parachutes werre also shot off before sundown...they caught most of them.

Fish trying to finish his Twilight book...

Tres loves to read as much as Fish does.

There were arts and crafts and goodies to buy at the Grove Community Center. Leah and Tres sharing a "sister" moment! Cute lounge dresses, adorable flip flops and lots of jewelry. We decided all you have to do is add a flower and glitz to anything and its for sale!

The other side of the hall was dedicated to music and dancing. Lots of the dances came out in their 4th of July apparel. One guy even had his hair colored red, white and blue!

Jana Jae and her group provided the music. She's a great fiddle player and is very supportive of the Grove community.

JULY 4TH AT THE WALLACES

Kira loves her fireworks and keeps her dad busy getting them set up!
Grandson Fish, Grandson Sam (16 now and driving),and Great-Grandson Chance. They all get pretty involved in setting off the fireworks show. The show gets better and better every year.

Steve and Mimi looking good!

Chance, Fish and Steve. You can tell that it was raining but didn't stop the works, only slowed it down for a while!

Leah, Shan and Angie. They had the dance lessons going all night in the barn.

My good friend (and China buddy!)--DeeDee and hubby James.

Angie, great-granddaughter Chelsie and Momma Shan! Chelsie hates the noise of firecrackers and stays hidden most of the party! She's playing soccer for a Tulsa team this year--GO CHELSIE!

Chris and Tom discussing the situation--is it gonna rain or just threaten? In the end, it rained and rained hard for a while just when the fireworks were starting...

Wayne helping the little ones set off their parachutes. Wayne was looking and feeling good after his bout in the hospital. He and Sherrie really have their place looking nice and all the rain really had things a beautiful shade of green!

Angie and her children...Tom tried to trade her son for his boots but he wouldn't even discuss it!

Kira can always find friends to play with. These girls had a blast and the rain didn't stop them at all!

Some of John's family...Landon, Kira, Sherrie, Chris, Shanin and Chelsie. We all look forward to this get together at Sherrie's every 4th of July. Good food, good family, good friends and good fun! Until next 4th....hope you all had a great time over the holiday, also.
